The Story Behind “Promises” — AxeeD
Sometimes, a song begins long before the first melody is created. It begins with a feeling, a person, or a moment that changes the way you see the world.
For me, “Promises” started with someone very special. Someone who came into my life and, without even realizing it, made my days brighter, my moments more beautiful, and the simplest things feel extraordinary. There was something about this person that made me want to hold on to every little moment, every smile, every conversation, and every feeling that was slowly growing inside my heart.
And one day, I found myself thinking about how beautiful it would be to make that person feel truly loved. Not just through words, but through something that could last forever — a song.
That was the beginning of “Promises.”
I wanted to write something that expressed what I felt deep inside: the desire to stay by someone's side, to keep choosing them even when life gets complicated, and to build a love that doesn't disappear when things change. A love that is willing to fight, to grow, and to become better with time.
That's why the lyrics say, “Even when we change, my heart will stay the same.” Because I believe that real love isn't about promising that everything will always be perfect. It's about promising that, even when life takes unexpected turns, your feelings are genuine and your intentions remain true.
When I wrote “For you I'd cross all the oceans,” I wanted to express that feeling of being willing to go beyond any distance or obstacle just to show someone how much they mean to you. And as the melodies started coming together, I realized that this song was becoming more than just a love song. It was my way of capturing a feeling I never wanted to forget.
As an artist, I've always believed that music has the power to tell the stories our hearts sometimes struggle to explain. And “Promises” became one of those stories for me — a reminder of the person who inspired it, the beautiful feelings that started it all, and the kind of love we all hope to find.
Because sometimes, someone comes into your life and makes everything feel a little more beautiful. And sometimes, all you can do is turn that feeling into a melody.
